Disgruntled

I recently called The Hays Daily News to talk to a reporter to tell her about an upcoming 25th anniversary luncheon and celebration Oct. 23 for National Active and Retired Federal Employees.  We had invited all club members, charter members, organization officers, state and national officers, and a representative from Congressman Jerry Moran's office.

Your reporter sounded so interested, sounded like she promised a reporter and a photographer to cover the event.

And guess what?  Everyone came except HDN people. Since then, I've kept track of photographs appearing in your paper: scene in a play in Greece, Realtor sign on townhouse in Beaverton, Ore., stop-action shot of a hockey puck in Ottawa, home for sale in Tallahassee, Fla., four-wheel vehicle in Canyonville, Ore., herd of sheep in Madrid, and four -- count 'em, four -- pictures of Morris the cat.

No photo of NARFE celebration.

Who do you think is subscribing to your newspaper?

You're not doing us -- or yourself -- a favor.

Same thing with youth sports in the area, it's as if the youth of our community don't count with the HDN.

Sounds like sour grapes. There are more important issues than a "stop action shot of a hockey puck"...
