Into a new century

Printer-friendly version

Ellis County is blessed with public employees who count our safety as their number one priority. As county citizens we must reciprocate. The issues of space and security in our county buildings have been around much longer than the present county commission. The monetary cost of making our courthouse current in level of security will not get lower. The longer we squabble about the cheapest answer, the greater our chances of a cost too dear.

We need to support the current commissioners as they continue the job of bringing our county into the 21st century. In the past, county employees have made do with less for the sake of things such as Hays' wonderful new public library or off-street parking.

We have seen a lot of creative ideas to squeeze a little more out of what little there is. We also have a potential sports complex to put tax money into. Voting "no" on the Hadley issue will not make the cost of updating the courthouse vanish. These improvements are long overdue.

Both Vernon Berens and Dennis Pfannenstiel are committed to the people of Ellis County. They understand that the business of Ellis County is not a part-time job or a hobby done one evening a week. Please support them this election.

Both Vernon Berens and Dennis Pfannenstiel are committed to a few people of Ellis County, but obviously not all in Ellis county.
