Russell L. Switzer, 95, Dallas, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in Dallas.

He was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Ellis. He graduated from SMU and received a master's degree from Harvard University.

He was a U.S. Army veteran in charge of troop transportation. He retired from ARCO as vice president.

He was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church, Hella Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge, and American Legion and Eastern Star in Hays.

Survivors include six nieces and six nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Koonze-Switzer, in 1996; his parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Memorials are suggested to Ellis United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
