Wauneta Helen Vine
Wauneta Helen Vine, 83, Ellis, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center after an extended illness due to a brain aneurysm.
She was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Augusta to Charles W. and Edith E. (Snavley) Turner.
She married Harold W. Vine on Oct. 30, 1942, in Ellis. She was a homemaker, a health care giver and above all a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, rural Hays, and High Plains Long Rifle club. She was talented in numerous areas, including woodworking, ceramics, stained glass and painting. She loved sharing the artwork she created with others. She was an avid fisherwoman and loved sunsets.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Denis Vine and fiancé, Mary Lou McDonald, and Kevin Vine and wife, Patty, all of Ellis; three daughters, Teresa Karlin and husband, Norbert, Plainville, Barbara Augustine and husband, Kenneth, and Shyrell Haas and husband, Jim, all of Hays; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Turner Jr.; a sister, Luetta Wiedeman; and two granddaughters, Nancy Karlin and Taryn Haas.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wasinger Keithley Funeral Chapel, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A Litany service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Episcopal Church in care of the funeral home.

We feel like we have lost another family member. We have had lots of happy moments with Wauneta/Harold when they would visit with my brother Mack/Polly Brandon in Borger, TX. Our deepest sympathy to all her loved ones--especially Harold.
