Bennie D. Stoppel
Bennie D. Stoppel, 75, Russell, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Russell Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1932, in rural Bunker Hill. He graduated from Dorrance High School.
He married Janice C. Strecker on Oct. 20, 1957, in Russell. He drove school bus for Russell USD 407 for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Bradley, Blaine and Michael; all of Russell; two brothers, Jr. Dale Stoppel, Luray, and Gerald Stoppel, Russell; a sister, LaDora Meier, Wichita; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, or the 4-H Development Fund in care of the mortuary.

Mrs Stoppel and family, My deepest sympathies to you in your loss. Third floor will miss Bennie. I so enjoyed seeing him on my visits to my dad. He had the greatest smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
