Raymond W. Stephens

Raymond W. Stephens, 70, Dighton, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at St. John's Health Care Center, Hays.

He was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Hollis, Okla., to Ernest J. and Jane (Moss) Stephens.

He graduated from Utica High School and attended John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark.

He married Sharon Jo Bower on June 1, 1958, in Utica. He owned and operated Stephen's Lumber Companies in Scott City, Cimarron and WaKeeney.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Danny Stephens, Cimarron, and Corey Stephens, Dighton; two daughters, Diana Glassman, Hays, and Penni Dreiling, Ellinwood; five brothers, A.J. Stephens, Billings, Mont., Dewey Stephens, Alpena, Ark., Denzil Stephens, El Dorado, and Edwin Stephens and Willy Stephens, both of Wichita; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church; burial in Utica Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Dighton Swimming Pool Water Slide Project in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.
