Gregory Allen Denning

Gregory Allen Denning, 52, San Diego, formerly of Hays, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in San Diego.

He was born June 20, 1956, in Hays to Alvin and Aletha (Unrein) Denning. He was a 1974 graduate of Hays High School.

He was a lifelong entrepreneur, spent the past four years as a graphic artist for Cyclops Displays in San Diego as well as producing video tutorials and creating artistic glasswork. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1974 to 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Aimee Campbell, Amarillo, Texas, and Jill Denning, Alexander, Va.; his parents, Alvin and Aletha (Unrein) Denning, Hays; three brothers, Tom Denning and wife, Deb, Hays, Dan Denning and wife, Cheryl, Herington, and Roger Denning and wife, Michele, San Diego; three sisters, Judy Evans and husband, Bob, Clovis, Calif., Margie Hammerschmidt and husband, Elden, Hays, and Kathy Banks and husband, Duane, Russell; three nephews; 14 nieces; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alois and Barbara Denning and Wendeline and Helen Unrein.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors by the Hays American Legion and VFW.

Friends can call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Medical Center DeBakey Heart Institute or the donor's choice.

My best memory of Greg was his willingness to have fun. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember Greg as a kind and exceptional indivivual. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. As a fellow classmate he had a wonderfully genuine spirit.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Greg. I worked with Greg at Hardees many years ago. He had a great sense of humor and was very loyal to his friends. I remember enjoying hearing his stories of his military service to our country. May he find eternal rest.
