Eugene Erich Swenson

Eugene Erich Swenson, 74, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Sumner Regional Medical Center, Wellington.

He was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Minneapolis to Erich Svante and Mildred Kristine (Gulin) Swenson. He was a 1952 graduate of White Bear High School.

He married Marjorie Leidenfrost in 1954. She preceded him in death. He later married Beulah Mae Long. She preceded him in death. He was a line foreman for Alumacraft Boat Co., Minneapolis, and did boat racing for Alumacraft. He later worked for Al Larson Boat Shop building Naval ships in their boatyard from 1965 until retirement in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Terry Swenson and wife, Debbie, Forrest Lake, Minn.; a step-son, Randy Long, Hays; two daughters, Rebecca Swenson, Marino Valley, Calif., and Darcie Thomas and husband, Sean, Gorham; two brothers, Russell Swenson and wife, Beverly, St. Peter, Minn., and Bruce Swenson, St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Marcia Wurst and husband, Jim, St. Paul; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Tracie Stinchcomb and Sheri Peterson.

Memorial services will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Eugene Erich Swenson Memorial Fund in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine.
