Derek L. Tholen

Derek L. "Rick" Tholen, 54, Grinnell, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, in Grinnell.

He was born July 16, 1954, in Quiter to Lawrence and Agnes (Schumacher) Tholen.

He married Deb Lindeman in 1974 in Angelus. He was a petroleum transport driver.

Survivors include a daughter, Mindy Hilt, Beloit; his parents, Grinnell; two brothers, Greg Tholen and Steve Tholen, both of Grinnell; two sisters, Rhonda Rudell, Emporia, and Tina Parks, Johnson; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Margaret Tholen and Nick and Elizabeth Schumacher.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell; burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church Parish Hall, Grinnell.

A rosary/wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the hall.

Memorials are suggested to the grandchildren's scholarship fund or Grinnell Fire Department in care of Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley.
