Kline loses Johnson County primary
TOPEKA (AP) -- Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline lost his Republican primary race Tuesday.
GOP challenger Steve Howe, a former assistant district attorney, received 60 percent of the vote in defeating Kline.
A key issue in the race was the notoriety Kline had received for prosecuting abortion clinics, though he tried to convince voters that he cared about far more than that hot-button issue.
