BOS Motorsports preparing for expansion

BOS Motorsports' expansion has been in the works for about a year and a half.

This week, it will become a reality as owners Kevin and Stephanie Bainter break ground on a new building for the business.

BOS Motorsports will be moving from its cramped 8,500-square-foot building to one almost double in size off north Vine Street, east of Doerfler's Harley Davidson.

"We'll have all the interstate traffic and we'll be by (Harley Davidson), which I think will help," Kevin Bainter said. "Harley riders ride four-wheelers too."

With a ground breaking ceremony slated for Tuesday and actual work to begin any day now, the Bainters expect BOS to be in its new location by early next spring.

"We're just expanding. We wanted to become a motorcycle dealer and we got that," Kevin Bainter said. "We've outgrown this building."

The move will be the third in the business' 12-year history.

The Bainters own their current building on East Eighth Street, but said they have a deal in the works to sell it.

They recently became certified to sell Yamaha motorcycles and also offer ATVs, Rhinos and scooters by Yamaha. Kevin Bainter said the motorcycle sales have taken off in the three short months since they began offering them.

"We could sell more if we could get them," Stephanie Bainter said.

The new store will allow for a larger service and parts department, for which the Bainters expect to hire more personnel once they have moved in.

"The parts, accessories are a big part of (the move)," Stephanie Bainter said. "We'll have a lot more in-stock items as far as accessories and clothing."

The Bainters bought their new parcel of land at 1210 E. 43rd Street more than a year ago and have been working on design plans for the last several months, and as those plans came along, the scope of the project grew.

"We bought the lot a year and a half ago and then we bought an extra 10 feet and then an extra 10 feet," Stephanie Bainter said.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
