Man dies after being thrown from vehicle in accident

ELLIS -- A 23-year-old man died early this morning from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident.

The Ellis County Sheriff's office identified the man as Dustin Wertz. The sheriff's office said Wertz was driving west on Old U.S. Highway 40 about a mile east of Ellis when he lost control of his pickup, left the roadway and rolled.

Wertz was thrown from the pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, which is being investigated by the sheriff's office, was discovered about 1:30 a.m. by an Ellis County deputy.
