Tiger men picked third in media poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University men's basketball team was picked third in the media poll and fourth by the coaches in Tuesday's

Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Media Day.

The coaches picked Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University first, followed by 2009 national semifinalist University of Central Missouri and Emporia State University. The media picked Central Missouri first over Southwest Baptist.

The Tiger women's team was picked fifth by the coaches and sixth in the media poll. The coaches and media both picked Emporia State first, followed by Washburn University and Pittsburg State University.

Both the Fort Hays men and women play exhibition games on Tuesday. The Tiger men play University of Kansas at 7 p.m. in Lawrence. The Tiger women are at Kansas State University for a 7 p.m. game in Manhattan.
