Local biker at symposium
Hays resident Sara Kay Carrell will take part in a panel discussion at the Amelia Earhart Symposium Saturday in Atchison.
The symposium features women who have set records in their own lives, much like Earhart did. The women will discuss character traits of female record setters.
Carrell has participated in mountain bike races and endurance road racing. She has set six course records in Kansas, California, Oregon, Illinois, Florida and Texas. Carrell holds the speed record for biking across Kansas south to north, covering 230 miles in 12 hours, 18 minutes.
The symposium will be 11 a.m. at O'Malley-McAllister Auditorium at Benedictine College.
