Victoria goes to 5-0 with fourth win over ranked team

ROZEL -- Victoria, the No. 1 ranked team in Eight-Man, Division II, came up with another impressive victory Friday night. The Knights downed another ranked team, outscoring Rozel-Pawnee Heights, 72-46, in a matchup of two of the state's top eight-man teams.

In a back-and-forth battle, Victoria (5-0) put up 30 fourth-quarter points to pull away for the victory and stay unblemished on the year.

Jordan Ottley led the way for Victoria, rushing for 232 yards on 22 carries and six scores, while Blake Klaus had 15 rushes for 163 yards and six TDs. Victoria led 28-18 at halftime.

Justin Skelton rushed for 90 yards on 18 carries for Pawnee Heights, while Mason Salmans threw for 332 yards and five scores.

ELLINWOOD -- Corey Torrez returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a score, setting the tone for a 50-14 victory for La Crosse on Friday. Torrez also caught a pass from quarterback Jeremy Garcia, who also ran for a score and completed a 2-yard score to Marcus Moeder as the Leopards stayed unbeaten on the season at 5-0.

Marshall Musil had a 47-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, complementing his eight-carry, 105-yard night. Moeder rushed for 67 yards on seven carries and a score.

SMITH CENTER -- The defending Class 2-1A state champion Redmen won the battle of unbeatens Friday. The Redmen amassed 405 rushing yards on 51 carries, scoring five running touchdowns, with Colt Rogers putting on the finishing touches with a pair of running scores in the fourth quarter. Trevor Rempe tallied 145 yards on 16 carries to lead the way for the Redmen.

Ellis was held to 84 rushing yards on 30 carries, while completing 3-of-8 passes for 51 yards and an interception. Ellis drops to 4-1, while the Redmen move to 5-0, extending their win streak to 59 games.

Patrick Piper rushed for 155 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown for the Cougars, while Kevin Wissman scored three times, rushing for 151 yards on 14 carries.

Palco got 134 rushing yards on six carries and a touchdown from Cole Nordyke, while Seth Wahrman scored two touchdowns, carrying the ball 13 times for 72 yards.
